Hollywood parades some of the brightest minds in movie production and script writing. In the midst of so much drive and zest in bringing forth movies that would captivate movie fans all over the world, it is not easy to stand out and above the crowd. Nik Catello is a name that has made indelible contributions in the production of award winning movies. Nik can be rightly described as an actor, producer, screen writer, martial artist and stunt's man. Nik was born in Hoboken, New Jersey and moved to California at 9 years old. There he trained in Martial Arts in Kenpo Karate, the style made famous by the innovator, the late great Hollywood stunt coordinator and the father of American Karate "Ed Parker" where Nik earned a 3rd degree Black and is now a 6th degree black. Nik was also Shakespearean trained by the late great Lynn Redgrave.

 Leisure Quest had the privilege to talk with Nik Cotello on his greatest achievements, current projects, challenges and future plans.

"24 LEGACY" DEBUTS WITH A NEW FACE

On February 5th, 2017, the much awaited follow up to the world's most watched action series will berth with a new kid in the block called Corey Hawkins.Hawkins played the role of Dr. Dre in the hood movie " Straight Outta Compton". Hawkins garnered a brief role in Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3 and went on to star opposite Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore in Universal Pictures' action-thriller Non-Stop. 

24 Legacy tells the story of how Eric Carter, after leading a mission to eliminate terrorist leader Sheik Ibrahim Bin-Khalid,  returns to the U.S. and finds out that he and his squad mates are targeted for assassination in retaliation for Bin-Khalid's death. With nowhere else to turn, Carter asks CTU to help him save his life while also stopping one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil. The events will take place three years after the events in 24: Live Another Day and is set in Washington, D.C.

Corey Antonio Hawkins (born October 22, 1988) is an American actor. He is best known for playing Heath in The Walking Dead and Dr. Dre in the 2015 biopic film, Straight Outta Compton.

SNAZZY: THE RISING PROFILE OF NOLLYWOOD's GAME CHANGER

As Nollywood continues to make giant strides within and outside Africa, the stage keeps expanding with the entrance of many great actors and actress's. 2017 is a year that promises to showcase some of the very best acts to have come out of Nigeria and are proud to represent their country wherever and whenever the occasion demands.

Mokwenye Denilson Nnamdi popularly known as Snazzy was born July 15th, in Asaba, Delta State into the family of Mr & Mrs Peter .N. Mokwenye, he is the second son and second born of a family of Six.

After his primary and secondary education he had his tertiary education at the University Of Port Harcourt where he bagged a B.Sc. in Economics.
 Interestingly, while on campus, SNAZZY and a friend called Jesse delved into show business full time. They organized several of events featuring mega stars like P.square,Tuface, Faze, Style Plus,The Mohits bit among several others. Snazzy told Leisure Quest that he has always had passion for the entertainment world.

 Snazzy made his debut outing in the movie industry way back in 2003 in a movie titled My Job,My life directed by Jerry Amilo. Although Snazzy featured in just two scenes in that movie, he nailed a long-lasting impression in a brilliant performance co-starring his cousin/brother Philson Isioma Obodoh who is now behind the screen.

CALLYWOOD STUDIOS SIGNS MOU WITH HOLLYWOOD.

In the month of June 2016, Nollywood and Social media enthusiasts were thrilled to read a headline stating that His Excellency Senator Professor Ben Ayade (aka Digital Governor Of Cross River State) had Incorporated Callywood and endorsed Egor Efiok to run . With that announcement Egor Efiok officially became the Director General (DG) of Callywood Studios. This was the first time any Government in Nigeria, whether State or Federal  would lay the foundations for a formal structure for the entertainment/movie industry with the aim of discovering and building up new talents while blending the old and new in creating some of the very best productions to ever come out of Africa.

  Egor Efiok is one entrepreneur who stands out on a unique platform of talent, courage and innovation. Egor who if fondly called the PR Lady by her fans, clients and movie industry shakers and movers has such an array of credentials that makes it difficult to categorize her anything short of being multi-talented and innovative in a highly competitive industry. Born in Liver Pool, Egor Efiok is a known name both in Europe and Africa. OUR PROGRESS SO FAR: By Egor Efiok

Callywood Studios are building a database of actors, cinematographers, scriptwriters, sound technicians etc...hence our auditions. Our team will train eligible contestants in all areas of high production value filmmaking in Cross River State. We would have a writer's room headed by Callywood Studios Head Screenwriter, Harry Kale, where we intend to train and employ a minimum of twenty writers.

We have taken note of all the outstanding contestants and have chosen a few to star in our first two upcoming Hollywood Meets Callywood films. We intend to shoot our first film in October this year, by the grace of God, so that our new Callywood actors can have adequate time to train for their roles and get into character.

If you auditioned, please do not worry if you have not yet been picked, as the selection process is ongoing and we still have many films in our coffers which other contestants may be suitable for.

Speaking on the June 2016 Callywood auditions, Egor stated that "There was such a large turn out in response to my first casting call, that we finished at almost midnight. Nollywood veterans Charles Novia and Blessing Effiom Egbe flew into Calabar to join our judging panel of myself (Director General Callywood Studios) and Callywood Studios Director, Frank Macaulay, as guest judges along with Hollywood Meets Nollywood film, Turning Point's Award Winning lead actor, Igoni Archibong. Igoni's presence as a guest judge was to inspire our wonderful hopefuls, as he has been through the same process and came out of it successful and with 2 Best Actor awards to his name. A NIGERIAN POP STAR IN CHINA

Hao Ge

Hao Ge (Chinese: 郝歌; pinyin: Hǎo Gē) is the Chinese stage name of Nigerian-born singer Uwechue Emmanuel. He rose to fame through a performance with Han Hong on the CCTV New Year's Gala and has emerged as one of the most notable foreign singers in China.
He began his singing career in the choir at Lagos' House on the Rock Pentecostal church in Nigeria. He received a degree in engineering, and began to pursue a singing career, which led his father to disown him. Before getting his career off the ground in China, he was a country music singer and astrophysicist by profession. He has a graduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Monrovia. In 2001, A friend of his, Li Yayu, started his singing career in China by inviting him to perform in hotels and bars throughout Henan and Hubei. At the Big Easy Bar in Beijing, Hao Ge was discovered by Liu Huan, a well-known music producer.

 Mr. Uwechue is not the first foreigner to have made a name for himself in China, but he is the first African to have reached widespread success there. Some music industry experts in China credit part of his fame to the close economic and cultural ties — including friendship and exchange programs and other joint ventures — that have long existed between China and some African countries. In a recently televised public performance, Mr. Uwechue dressed up as an oil rig worker and sang alongside a Chinese fellow laborer.

Among nations with close Sino-African ties, Nigeria in particular has benefited from Chinese capital. China has invested more than $7 billion in energy, communications and infrastructure in the country, which exports some $4.7 billion in crude oil to China each year, according to a recent statement by Li Yizhung, China’s minister of industry and information technology.

“This is not just about Hao Ge,” said Long Hu, 38, a music producer and talent scout in Beijing who cultivates young musical talent. “It’s about China and Africa.”
