THE DESTRUCTION OF MILE 5

A displaced member of the mile 5 community going through the wreckage of what used to be home and business to her.
If you have lived in Asaba for a period of 6 years or more, you may have had occasion to visit the popular Mile 5 relaxation resort. Mile 5 in located at Anwai Village, which is barely 3 kilometers from Asaba, the capital city of Delta State.
Sometime in the year 2013, i had visitors from outside the State who wanted to visit a natural tourist attraction on a weekend. I felt like surprising them with a visit to a place, not so glamorous but heavily stocked with assorted types of well prepared African recipes and of course the tradition product of the palm tree that has featured in books like "Things Fall Apart" by the late Prof. Chinua Achebe. Yes am talking of the Palm Wine that made mile 5 popular for decades spanning a said period of many generations past.

As we entered the village, instead of seeing the many mud relaxation bush bars that used to line up the road, what we saw was utter destruction of both the commercial structures and residential buildings that once represented a peaceful, quiet and most resourceful community.

Queen Blessing Ebigieson a.k.a Black Queen, talks about the prospects in Nollywood

Ambassador Queen Blessing Ebigieson: Writer, Producer, Actress and Philanthropist

Leisure Quest had an exclusive interview with Movie Producer/Multi Award winning Actress: Ambassador Queen Blessing Ebigieson a.k.a the Black Queen, on the challenges, prospects and future growth of the Nigerian Movie Industry. She also touched on the issue of how new and old actors can improve their performance ratings and score good roles. The video interview is part of leisure quest's mandate on encouraging local and foreign artistes to bring their best into whatever they do, whether  it is acting, singing or even modelling. Queen Blessing Ebigieson was very emphatic on certain touchy issues that have raised concerns within the movie industry. The seasoned producer said it is not by educational qualification that would make a person a good actress or actor. While she encouraged new actors to see the time, energy and money it may cost them to travel to partake in many auditions, as sowing of seed into their future career, they must never get desperate to the point of paying movie producers to give them roles as desperation can never lead them to success.
